Well here’s my last week of workouts. I did a big mix of weight training and sports this week. One issue I’ve run into is the 100 lb dumbells at the gym are now too light! I know that sounds like a real musclehead thing to say, but it’s a real issue. I like my gym and want to stay there so I’m going to request more dumbells I guess. Another multi day update. I did double workouts for the past two as I was very busy and couldn’t squeeze in my cardio during the day so I did 30 minutes on the bike after each of the past two workouts. It takes a lot longer but it works well! One thing I did is increase the resistance on the bike to make my 30 minutes more effective. I used to set it at 5 for the “effort” setting but set it at 10 for the last two. I burned TWICE as many calories with this simple adjustment. Read more


Another day another workout update. I did miss Saturday due to a Pig Roast. It was fun but beer has a lot of calories so I wrote that day off. I do think it’s important to have a couple days of fun when maintaining, otherwise the cheat desire increases too much. My diet was horrible on the day of the party. I admit it. I ate chips and beer! Not good for keeping weight off but I will make up for it with cardio and always do my workouts. Read more


I did the Spartan Race in Montreal on the weekend and man what a race! It’s advertised as 12 km of race and obstacles but what it ended up being was 15 km through pure mud trails. It took me 3 hours and 55 minutes to finish the course. The winner did in 1 hour and 27 minutes but I still have no clue how that guy went through it that fast. So today I figured I’d do another multiple day update. School seems to out so the gym is now packed with high school kids. That is not a good time but they typically stop going after a couple days and their workouts are very short and sweet. I think I counted 15 of them in the one room on Tuesday though. Yikes. That’s way too many. I have no problem with them other then they take up all the weights and space!

So Wednesday we played baseball. We won 32 to 23 or something like that. It was good but there was one guy on the other team who was a complete douchebag. He kept chirping us the whole game and had severe “little man” complex. At the end of the game he wouldn’t even shake hands. Oh well. I’ve been busy! I did my workout on Monday, Tuesday & Today. I thought I’d put them all into one post and make the update that way again. I’ve got a wicked head cold and had two choices. First I could have used that as an excuse and NOT worked out. But I took the second option, I worked out and ran 5 km yesterday then worked out again this morning. Today was legs and shoulders at the gym. I did 515 lbs for 3 reps for the last set of my squats. That’s 5 plates and a 10 lb plate on each side. The bar seriously bends when I do them but the bars are meant to bend a bit and come right back. The other day one of the workers at the gym gave me crap for not putting those little collar things on the bar. I did, but I don’t normally for squats since they’re not necessary at all. This was a long workout. Took about 2 hours to complete and man was it ever hot in there. I think being almost summer the air conditioner doesn’t quite kick on yet. It’s good for weight loss though, lots of sweat. Wednesdays are typically still kinda busy, but it’s bearable after 10:30 am. Most tend to leave by then and the place gets empty. Nothing worse then waiting forever for a bench or bar or machine!
